Malay is Pochoy’s new band. I was always fascinated and awed by Pochoy’s style of music and I was certainly put down when I heard that Dicta License was no more. Imagine my joy when, as I was going around Eastwood one night, he goes up to the stage and starts performing with his new band. It was a good thing that I had my camera with me.

Beggars Can’t be Choosers
Last Saturday marked the second week that my cam was sidelined because I was not interested in the ones performing. I was itching to shoot an event.
Went down and shoot who ever was singing. It really did not matter who was singing, just as long as they were up on stage ready to pose and be all pretty.

Last Saturday was real hot. You could really feel the heat going up your nose. Those girls in the front row were real fan girls. They each brought a CD for Jay R to autograph them.

Things were starting to heat up. As in literally. Jay R was an hour late for a show that should have started 8 pm.

Bored.

Mega Bored.

Finally. Jay R arrived. Tailed by two girls.

The gig was actually his album launch. No wonder those fan girls each had a CD!!

I really do hope that this September’s slew of events will be a lot more different from August’s.

One thing I enjoy about shooting events like these is that the people on stage love the camera. They love to get their pictures taken. as exhibited by this man.

Stayed for only two songs. I was not able to stand the heat.

The event was not all too bad but I did feel a little nauseous going back and I was not really sure why. It must have been the heat.

Nina at Eastwood
On a date that could only be seen in one lifetime,(ok, I stole that line from Solar Sports, I’ve been watching too much of the olympics lately.) August 8, 2008, or more aptly 080808, Nina played at Eastwood. Too bad I only caught her last three songs!

She posed for me! :) This is the first time a person upstage posed for me when I was taking a shot.
From what I could remember, she sang mostly covers. Immensely enjoyed the songs.

You really can’t deny talent when you see it. Eventhough she sings mostly covers, I am still awed by the power of her voice. Who am I to say anyway that she should write her own songs.

Shooting a calm event like this is a big break from all the concerts I’ve been trying to shoot.

It’s a big break from trying to capture rockstars headbanging and jumping around. It kind of felt like I was listening more to the music instead of shooting. Shooting a slow paced event like this made me appreciate the singer more.

Pure Bokeh!
With out further hesitation, I bring you the Super Pure Ultimate Bokeh or SPUB for short. This will put to shame the most intricate bokehs ever produced. This technique will pounce on that old school Takugawa Bokeh into focus.
I bring you the SPUB!!!!

Oh hail the great new technique SPUB!!!!!
Who am I shitfacing here?!?!?!
Who would think that this out of focus picture would be the next big thing in the photography universe?
Gah!!! Oh well.
I’ve got to practice more on doing manual focus if I’m going to stick with my 50mm 1.8 mounted on a D40. I wish i had a D80 so i wouldn’t have to put up with manual focus!
On a more serious note, I got some good snaps using the lens!

Lougee of Delara formerly known as Mojofly.
I think the only remaining original member of mojofly, the bassist, left already. So they thought that it might be vain to keep riding the mojofly band name. They were labeled as “Kitchie’s old Band’ back then. I guess this is a good start for them. Hope they get more gigs!

Session Road!
That is all for now!
