Acel Van Omen

The very first vocalist of Moonstar88, Acel Van Omen, released her own solo effort last week in Eastwood. I wasn’t able to shoot that much but I guess I was able to grab some few snaps good enough for posting.

I wasn’t in the mood for shooting that night. It must have been because I didn’t know any of her songs.

Despite the fact that I didn’t know any of her songs, her voice was reason enough for me to stay there.

I was tempted to shout out ‘Torete’ in the hopes that she would sing something that i knew.

Shooting in black and white has a different feel to it that I can’t quite put into words. Photos in black and white has a little more drama in them that the conventional full blown technicolor.

She still has that same petite voice that she sported when she fronted for moonstar88.

On another note, I will be off to Hong Kong this Thursday! Hooray!
Time for some extreme night shots like this!

Event Shoot this Wednesday!!!!

October 15, 2008 not only marks the tenth time I’ll be receiving my salary this year, but it is also a good time to catch up on my long lost “skill” in “photography”. This Wednesday, The Bloomfields will be launching their Christmas Album at Eastwood city central plaza. It’s not that I’m a fan but it’s because the past events in Eastwood were just too big and crowded for me. Here’s to hoping that I can get some good photos from the event.

Again, I Am Not A Fan.

Having been stuck with an MF lens for the past month now has really curbed my enthusiasm for using my camera. I am hoping my 18-200 gets fixed soon, but that’s not until the end of October because my lens is still in the land of the rising sun Japan getting fixed.

Beggars Can’t be Choosers

Events at Eastwood forthe past two weeks have been somewhat not my cup of tea. I didn’t bother checking out the big concerts that went by downstairs eventhough I could hear the crowd cheer from all the way up my condo. The crowd seemed happy. The sounded happy too. But all that jitter and noise really didn’t push me to go down knowing that the attraction that the crowd was jeering for could have gone by the names of Gail Blanco. Or even Jed Madela. Or even Jay R.

Last Saturday marked the second week that my cam was sidelined because I was not interested in the ones performing. I was itching to shoot an event.

Went down and shoot who ever was singing. It really did not matter who was singing, just as long as they were up on stage ready to pose and be all pretty.

Last Saturday was real hot. You could really feel the heat going up your nose. Those girls in the front row were real fan girls. They each brought a CD for Jay R to autograph them.

Things were starting to heat up. As in literally. Jay R was an hour late for a show that should have started 8 pm.

Bored.

Mega Bored.

Finally. Jay R arrived. Tailed by two girls.

The gig was actually his album launch. No wonder those fan girls each had a CD!!

I really do hope that this September’s slew of events will be a lot more different from August’s.

One thing I enjoy about shooting events like these is that the people on stage love the camera. They love to get their pictures taken. as exhibited by this man.

Stayed for only two songs.  I was not able to stand the heat.

The event was not all too bad but I did feel a little nauseous going back and I was not really sure why. It must have been the heat.

Nina at Eastwood

On a date that could only be seen in one lifetime,(ok, I stole that line from Solar Sports, I’ve been watching too much of the olympics lately.) August 8, 2008, or more aptly 080808, Nina played at Eastwood. Too bad I only caught her last three songs!

She posed for me! :) This is the first time a person upstage posed for me when I was taking a shot.

From what I could remember, she sang mostly covers. Immensely enjoyed the songs.

You really can’t deny talent when you see it. Eventhough she sings mostly covers, I am still awed by the power of her voice. Who am I to say anyway that she should write her own songs.

Shooting a calm event like this is a big break from all the concerts I’ve been trying to shoot.

It’s a big break from trying to capture rockstars headbanging and jumping around. It kind of felt like I was listening more to the music instead of shooting. Shooting a slow paced event like this made me appreciate the singer more.

Cheap 400 pesos Filter Making Weird Stuff

That thing beside Jett Pangan’s ear is something I cannot explain. I think it was caused by the cheap less than 500 peso filter I got from the mall. I should get a real filter soon. That filter is making unwanted glares everywhere.

I had fun shooting the 4th installment of the NU 107 Lounge sessions with the Dawn and other guest artists.  The night was heated up by the Out of body Special, a band that I’ve been trying to catch since forever. I could say that OBS is another great band. They have that perfect fusion of hip hop and rock. Amazing.

Lens Flares! A lot of people would want to avoid things like these, but I on the other hand love them!

OBS! Grinding to the music!

‘If I could give it!’

The best bassist in the land! Nino Avenido.

Kat of Sino si Kat

Buddy Zabala!

More of Jett!

Macoy Fundales.

Idol Brew!

Kooky Chua of Color it Red

The night was a big blast! Immensely enjoyed shooting and listening to the great music. Too bad we didn’t get to see The Dawn with Lourd and the horns anymore because we had to catch a movie.

I really should get a real filter soon so I can avoid those things!
