Running: I Want a Sub-Something at Unilab’s Run for Wellness

Me signing-up for this run has automatically and unknowingly signed-up Bryan as my pacer for the event. I haven’t touched the 5 kilometer distance for a long time ever since I got a massive finish at Ateneo and what better time to have a go at it again than now. When I saw the Unilab thread in Takbo.ph, Bryan was the only runner doing 5k and I asked myself ‘Why don’t I join him?’

Bryan is a fast guy and I’ll surely get pulled along by his energy in the run. This is the perfect time to run 5k because I’ll be accompanied by a monster (as defined in eGMB’s monster list). Good Luck to Me.

This post is for you Bryan. Please help me. I need to be faster! I need be fast just like you!

I HOPE I can keep up. Wish me luck!

Go, Gerard! You can do it! I think a lot of us are trying to sub-something at the Unilab Run. Hopefully due to the Century Run any race course kinks have been ironed out so all we have to do is run. :D

hey, dude! with your weight loss & daily runs/bikes, i’m sure you could easily get a sub-30, and even a sub-25 or 24 if you really wanna train for it. right now, i’m following a program given to me by Jon and i think it’s helping me a lot. i can e-mail you my training if you want (let me know rexbryanrivera@gmail.com), but Jon makes a program based on your recent races & target. if you want, you can also try sending an e-mail to Jon and ask for his help (under1630@yahoo.com). he told me i could hit sub-4 in Milo…IF i train seriously for it. in fact, i’m sure anyone can hit sub-4 if they train for it. before i met him, my LONG TERM goal, as in up to old age, for a marathon is 4:30, would you believe?

before i was just after increasing mileage, but with the program, i’m being taught how to run faster, NOT longer. now i understand why he doesn’t believe in LSDs (well, for him, running should always be training, not our usual social activity :) ). my long runs under his program is only up to 15km for now.

if you’re going for 5K only, no need to carbo load. :) just tempo & speedwork.

see you at unilab! good luck! :)

    Hi Bry!

I don’t really know how I did that sub23 and I surely don’t know how I will best it. That’s why when I saw your name under the 5k list, I signed up too! I bet your speed will pull me along on the race.

The last time I ran the 5k, I really had fun. I could go all out without having to worry about losing steam because its JUST 5k unlike longer distances. I bet you can do better than sub25, with your speed, height and all. The good thing about 5k’s is that there’s no holding back.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll try to email Jon too!

PS: Please mail me you plan too! (gerard.cinco@gmail.com)

    Hey Noelle!

Believe it or not, you’re one of the reasons why I’m looking for a Sub-something at Unilab! You’re sub2 21k debut at Condura really inspired me.

Thanks and see you at the race!
